Annie's THERAPIST'S Statement
Annie Gerut: Supporting children, teens, and adults in breaking cycles of anxiety and self-doubt, building confidence, and creating lasting change through compassionate, trauma-informed therapy
Are past traumas weighing you down, leaving you unsure how to heal? Do you find yourself stuck in a cycle of anxiety or self-doubt, affecting your daily life or relationships? Is your child struggling with emotional dysregulation, and you’re unsure how to support them? You don’t have to navigate this alone—let’s connect! I specialize in children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, ADHD, and relational distress. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space tailored to your needs, where your experiences are
heard and understood.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, grounded in attachment theory. I utilize a mix ofEmotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and strength-based modalities. I value honesty, humor,
and humility within the therapeutic relationship, as well as, creativity, connection, and collaboration to support meaningful progress!
Together, we can explore the roots of you, or your child’s distress and implement effective tools for healing, growth, and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.
Outside of the counseling office, my interests span far and wide from traveling to new places, spending quality time with my golden retriever, Laddie Boy, and having a knack in finding humor and appreciation of life’s quirks.
I offer a free 15-minute phone call or email exchange to see if working together feels right for you. If you’re a parent, choosing a therapist for your child or teen is an important decision and investment, so I welcome you to contact me
with any questions. I look forward to working with you!

Annie Gerut's THERAPEUTIC Modalities
Attachment-based
Attachment-based therapy addresses patterns formed in early relationships that affect current relationships. This approach helps individuals understand how early attachment experiences influence emotional regulation, relationship dynamics, and personal development.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy identifies and changes negative thought patterns affecting emotions and behaviors. This evidence-based approach effectively treats depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health conditions by developing practical coping strategies and improved emotional regulation.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy helps regulate emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. This structured approach combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy helps couples and families form secure emotional bonds. This evidence-based approach identifies and transforms negative interaction patterns by addressing underlying attachment needs to create deeper, more secure connections.
Humanistic
Humanistic Therapy emphasizes personal growth, self-actualization, and present moment awareness. This client-centered approach focuses on human potential, encourages self-exploration, and helps clients develop self-acceptance and authentic living.
Person-Centered
Person-Centered Therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, creates a supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings with a therapist who demonstrates genuine empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. Rather than directing your journey, we trust in your natural capacity for growth and healing, believing that when provided with these core conditions, you'll discover meaningful insights and solutions that align with your unique values and needs. This humanistic approach honors your inner wisdom and empowers you to develop greater self-awareness and personal growth at your own pace.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy uses play to help children express and process emotions. This developmentally appropriate approach helps children communicate feelings, develop coping skills, and resolve challenges through play, their natural language of expression.
Strength-Based
Strength-Based Therapy focuses on capabilities and resources rather than deficits. This empowering approach identifies and builds upon existing strengths, resilience factors, and positive qualities to help clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Trauma Focused
Trauma-Focused Therapy addresses the impact of traumatic experiences on mental health. These specialized approaches help individuals process traumatic memories, reduce symptoms, and develop coping skills to recover from psychological trauma.
